Lions open Ivy League Championship Weekend with the top conference time or mark in eight different events; Championships begin on Saturday; ESPN+ will provide a live stream both days.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Columbia men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Cambridge, Mass. this weekend to compete in the 2019 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships Saturday and Sunday at Harvard's Gordon Track. Live results can be accessed at this link.
The event will be streamed live on ESPN+ on both Saturday and Sunday with Eric Gallantly and Robert Johnson making the call. Coverage begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.

The event begins on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. with the women's pentathlon 60-meter hurdles followed by several field events at 11 a.m. including the women's weight throw, women's long jump, women's pole vault finals and women's 60-meter hurdles semifinals. Aside from the men's and women's 3,000-meter final which will be run on Saturday, the majority of the track finals will take place on Sunday. Other Saturday finals include the women's weight throw, women's long jump, women's pole vault, men's pole vault, men's long jump and men's weight throw.
The top six finishers in each event receive team points: 10 points for first place, eight points for second place, six points for third place, four points for fourth place, two points for fifth and one point for sixth place. All-Ivy awards are based on the results of the championships, with first-place (including relays) earning first-team All-Ivy and second-place (including relays) earning second-team All-Ivy. On Sunday, the league's eight coaches will vote on Most Outstanding Performers for both the women and men and Coach of the Year awards. On Tuesday, the league will announce the Most Outstanding Performer, Coach of the Year awards, along with the All-Ivy teams.
Adult Admission is $16 for a two-day pass and $10 for a single day pass. Student and youth 12 and under admission is $8 for a two-day pass and $5 for a single day pass. Tickets can be purchased at this link or at the door.
COLUMBIA FAN BUS
Columbia fans are encouraged to take the Fan Bus to Harvard on Sunday morning. The bus departs from the corner of 116th & Amsterdam at 6:45 a.m. Sunday morning and willl return to New York immediately after the meet ends Sunday evening.
WOMEN'S PREVIEW
Columbia enters the weekend with the top Ivy League times or marks in four different women's events. Iman Sule owns the top 400-meter dash time with a 55.02, Katie Wasserman owns the league's top mile time (4:41.95), Terri Turner has run the fastest 500-meter run time (1:12.79) and Columbia's Distance Medley Relay enters the weekend as the favorite at 11:22.74.
According to the top times list, the Lions have an opportunity to pile up points in the 60-meter hurdles, triple jump and 3,000-meter run. Columbia has three of the top-8 times in the 60-meter hurdles where Lauren Micham (No. 3, 8.49), Simone Kirton (No. 5, 8.53) and Carlita Taylor (No. 8, 8.56) could complete. In the triple jump, Maryam Hassan (12.45m/40-10 ¾) and Kali Hatcher (12.36m/40-6 ¾) have the No. 3 and No. 4 marks respectively. In the 3,000-meter run, Columbia's Erin Gregoire (9:24.64) and Allie Hays (9:26.96) have the No. 2 and No. 3 top times respectively.
Other athletes with top-10 times upon entering the weekend include Turner, who is ranked No. 7 in the 800-meter run (2;09.86), Abigail McLaughlin (No. 6, 16:49.59) and Samantha Marin (No. 10, 17:07.21) in the 5,000-meter run, Madelyn Sessler (No. 7 in the Pentathlon) and the 4x400-meter relay (No. 4) and 4x800-meter relay (No. 3).
MEN'S PREVIEW
Nine Columbia athletes or relays are ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 in the Ivy League marks and top times upon entering this weekend's men's track and field competition. The Lions hold the No. 1 time in the Ivy League in four events including Alec Sauer, who owns the top time in both the 800-meters (1:48.94) and 1,000-meters (2:22.14), Sam Ritz, who holds the top mile time (3:59.36) and the Lions' distance medley relay team (9:34.72).
Boasting No. 2 times or marks include Daniel Igbokwe in the triple jump (15.25m/50-0 ½), Columbia's 4x800-meter relay team (7:40.49), Brian Zabilski in the 3,000-meters (8:02.15), Josiah Langstaff, who holds the No. 2 ranked time in the 1,000-meters (2:22.74) and No. 2 time in the 800-meters (1:49.17).
Columbia also has depth in a variety of events including five of the top-nine times in the 800-meters, the top two times in the 1,000-meters, and three of the top nine times in the weight throw.
