LAST TIME OUT
The Lions are coming right off a tough 14-12 loss to Fairfield on Wednesday. In snowy conditions, the Lions battled back from a four-point deficit to tie the game at 11-11, but penalties plagued Columbia late as Fairfield used two man-up goals in the final 10 minutes to steal the win.
Â
Sophomore midfielder
Alison Schwasnick had a breakout game in the outing, recording her first career hat trick with three goals and one assist to lead the team with four points. Senior midfielder
Lindsey Ewertsen had a game-high seven draw controls to go with two goals, one assist, three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Â
Columbia once again used a two-goalkeeper system as first-year
Ryan Schlageter played the first 30 minutes, before junior
Abby Roberts was in goal for the second half. The pair combined for eight saves, while Schlageter had a season-best six.
Â
SCOUTING ARIZONA STATE
The Sun Devils are 1-0 on the young season, with their lone defeat coming against Kennesaw State, 14-7, on Feb. 8. ASU had four players score multiple goals in the outing, led by junior attacker Kerri Clayton with four.
Â
This will be the second consecutive season in which the two teams have faced off, as ASU took a 15-12 win in New York last February.
Â
SCOUTING SAN DIEGO STATE
The Aztecs enter the weekend at 2-0, but will face No. 24 USC on Friday before making the trip to Tempe. SDSU earned victories over Oregon and Cal to begin the 2019 campaign. SDSU is averaging 13 goals per game, while three players average two or more goals per game.
Â
The Lions are 1-0 all-time against SDSU after a 14-11 win over the Aztecs in San Diego in 2017.
