Wrestling Concludes Regular Season at Bucknell, Bloomsburg

With two victories on Saturday, Columbia would register its most NCAA Division I dual match wins since 1980-81; Lions enter weekend with 8-5 record.
LEWISBURG, Pa./BLOOMSBURG, Pa.—Columbia Wrestling hits the road for its final two regular season matches on Saturday matches when the Lions travel to Bucknell for a Noon EIWA match in Lewisburg, Pa., then drive 35 miles east to wrestle Bloomsburg at 3 p.m. The Bucknell match will take place at Davis Gym on Bucknell's campus, while the Bloomsburg match will take place at Nelson Fieldhouse.

With its final two regular season dual matches, Columbia (8-5) is chasing history. With a win over Bucknell on Saturday, the Lions would register nine NCAA Division I wins for the first time since the 1980-81 season. Currently, Columbia's eight NCAA Division I dual match wins ranks tied for second among top win totals since 1980-81: 10—1980-81; 8—five times, 2018-19, 2013-14, 2007-08, 2005-06 and 1998-99.
ABOUT THE LIONS
Columbia is led by Dan Reed and Laurence Kosoy. Both are ranked among the top wrestlers at their respective weight classes by the EIWA. Reed is ranked No. 4 in the 157-pound class with a 21-6 overall record (6-3 in EIWA), while Kosoy is No. 5 in the 165-pound weight class with a 19-11 overall record (5-4 in EIWA bouts). Max Elling has won 17 matches at 174 pounds (5-4 in EIWA action), Danny Fongaro is 15-10 at 141 pounds, Cole Corrigan is on a six-match win streak and is 7-2 in EIWA bouts at 149 pounds, Matt Kazimir is 15-3 at 133 pounds and Joe Manchio is 15-12 at 125 pounds.

Bucknell is 6-10 overall and 4-6 in the EIWA. On a three-match losing streak, the Bison will celebrate senior day prior to their Columbia match Saturday. Bucknell is led by Zach Hartman, who sports a team-best 22-5 overall record and 10-0 EIWA record at 157 pounds. Other top Bison include Drew Phipps, who is 20-7 overall at 197 pounds, Jacob Ferreira, who is 15-11 at 184 pounds, Frankie Guida, Jr., who is 14-11 at 174 and Jakob Campbell, who is 14-8 at 125.
