Florio Takes Third, Lions Place Fourth at Dartmouth Invitational

Sophomore Alexis Florio shoots career-low 70 on Sunday to finish in third place at two-under-par 72-70-142; Lions' 594 score ranks as fifth-lowest 36-hole score in school history.
HANOVER, N.H.—Sophomore Alexis Florio tied for third place after carding a two-under-par 72-70-142 and the Columbia women's golf team registered a fourth-place finish Sunday at the Dartmouth Invitational held this weekend at Hanover Country Club. Florio carded a two-under-par 72-70-142 after totaling nine birdies and 20 pars on the weekend. With her career-low 70, Florio tied for the 11th lowest round in school history. Her two-under-par also ranked No. 11 on the Columbia school list versus par. She registered back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3, added a third on the 9 hole and closed out the day with birdies on 13, 15 and 17. On Saturday, she shot an Even 72 and finished the day in fourth place. She opened the weekend with back-to-back birdies on holes 1 and 2 and excelled on the back nine by shooting a two-under-par 35 after carding a birdie on hole 12.
As a team, Columbia finished in fourth place out of 13 teams at 18-over-par 300-294-594. Columbia's 294 in the second round ranked as the ninth-lowest team round in school history and its 594 ranked as the fifth-lowest 36-hole score in school history.
Following Florio, two Lions tied for 14th place at five-over-par 149 in first-year Christine Shao (74-75-149) and sophomore Jennifer Wang (76-73-149). Shao started Sunday on fire as she carded three straight birdies. She finished the weekend with seven birdies. Wang also carded three straight birdies on Sunday and added a fourth on the 13 hole for a 73. She totaled eight birdies on the weekend.
Rounding out Columbia scorers include first-year Annie Sun who finished in 31st place at 10-over-par 78-76-154 and senior Emily Chu, who finished in 56th place at 15-over-par 83-76-159.
Two Lions competed as individuals: junior Katie Lee, who finished in 63rd place at 19-over-par 80-83-163, and sophomore Marlene Tartaro who took 69th place at 23-over-par 87-80-167.
Harvard won the team competition after shooting Even at 296-280-576 while Harvard's Chloe Royston won the individual title with an eight-under-par 70-66-136.
Along with Columbia, 13 competed in the event including Albany, Boston U., Brown, Hartford, Harvard, Merrimack, Quinnipiac, Siena, Stetson, Yale, and host Dartmouth.
