Women's Golf Finishes Princeton Invite in Seventh Place

Columbia places seventh out of 13 teams with a 34-over-par 301-309-610; first-year Christine Shao leads Lions with 23rd place finish.
PRINCETON, N.J.—The Columbia women's golf team concluded its weekend at the Princeton Invitational tied for seventh place out of 13 teams Saturday at Springdale Golf Club. The Lions combined to card a 34-over-par 301-309-610 over the two-day, 36-hole competition.

First-year Christine Shao led the Lions with a 23rd place finish at seven-over-par 73-78-151. Shao ended day one in 11th place after shooting a one-over-par 73. She birdied two holes including No. 4 and No. 18 and finished the day with 13 pars. On Sunday, Shao finished with two birdies.
Sophomore Alexis Florio ended the two-day invite in 32nd place with an eight-over-par 76-76-152. Florio finished the weekend with four birdies.
Sophomore Jennifer Wang concluded the weekend in 42nd place with a 10-over-par 78-76-154. She carded four birdies, including three on the front nine of Sunday's final round. First-year Annie Sun ended in 68th place at 16-over-par 74-86-160 and junior Katie Lee took 71st place at 17-over-par 82-79-161.
Competing as individuals were sophomore Marlene Tartaro, who finished in 78th place at 23-over-par 83-84-167 and senior Emily Chu, who placed 79th with an 81-89-170.
A total of 12 teams competed at the event including Albany, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, Princeton, Rollins, St. John's, Seton Hall and Yale.
