Julia Haynes, Michelle Xu advance to Flight B Singles championship match, duo wins Flight B Doubles title, Lions have several other finalists and semifinalists.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—The Columbia women's tennis program enjoyed a successful three-day Cissie Leary Invitational this weekend at the University of Pennsylvania.
On Saturday, first-years Julia Haynes and Michelle Xu won the Flight B Doubles bracket and on Sunday, Haynes and Xu both advanced to the championship of the Flight B Doubles bracket and will play for the title on Tuesday. Additionally, Columbia had several finalists and semifinalists including Flight A Singles finalists in sophomore Akanksha Bhan and first-year Shivani Amineni, Flight A Doubles semifinalists junior Christie Wan and sophomore Melissa Sakar and Flight B Doubles finalists junior Jennifer Kerr and Amineni.

Columbia is one of two Ivy League schools who competed in the invitational. Teams competing include Columbia, Delaware, Drexel, Fordham, Penn, Penn State, Temple, William & Mary will be in University City for the weekend.
