Lions Continue Non-Conference Play at Fordham Thursday

Columbia will travel to nearby Fordham Thursday for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff

NEW YORK — The Columbia women's soccer team will once again hit the road this Thursday, Sept. 5, traveling to face nearby Fordham at 7 p.m. ET at Jack Coffey Field.

The match will be streamed live on ESPN+, while live statistics can be found here.

The Lions own an 0-1-1 overall record following the first weekend of action. Columbia began its season last Thursday, earning a 2-2 draw at Colgate before falling in the home-opener against 11th-ranked Tennessee on Sunday.

Against Colgate, first-year Shira Cohen scored the Lions' first goal of the season off a double assist from fellow rookies Maddy McCaw and Ally Clark. Senior defender Amalya Johnson also scored her first career goal for Columbia in the contest, converting a free kick from senior captain Maddie Temares.

SCOUTING FORDHAM
Entering Thursday's game, the Rams are 1-3 on the young season coming off a 6-1 loss at Hofstra on Sunday. Fordham's lone win came at Manhattan on Thursday, Aug. 29, registering a 1-0 victory as first-year Kristen Cocozza scored the game winner. Three different players have notched goals for the Rams in 2019, while three separate players have dished out assists.

Columbia leads the all-time series between the two teams, 12-6, including a 3-0 victory against the Rams in 2018 at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. The Lions are 3-1 against Fordham under sixth-year Columbia head coach Tracey Bartholomew.

UP NEXT
The Lions will continue their road stretch Sunday, Sept. 8, taking a trip to Lawrenceville, New Jersey, to take on MAAC opponent Rider. The match is set to get underway at 1 p.m.
