WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW...
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
The Lions are 4-0 for the first time since 2008 and will look to match the mark for best start in program history with a win on Friday. Columbia has never begun a season 6-0.
FAIRFIELD'S STATUS
The Stags fell back to .500 after falling 1-0 in double overtime to Temple Sunday. Fairfield and Columbia have played two common opponents so far with both teams earning wins over UAlbany and Quinnipiac. Danielle Profita and Madison Hoskins each have five points to lead the team (two goals, one assist). Zoe Rosen boasts a 2.16 GAA and an .824 save percentage in goal.
COLGATE'S STATUS
The Raiders are coming off a 3-1 defeat to Cornell on Sunday and are in search of their first win of the season coming into a Friday afternoon match against Yale. Colgate, who will wrap up a stretch of three-straight contests against Ivy League foes, have only scored three goals on the year. Ella Murphy leads the team with 11 shots. In net, Anna Unger has a 3.64 GAA and .583 save percentage.
LIONS SET TO HONOR RICK HOLZINGER SUNDAY
On Sunday, Columbia will play in honor of Rick Holzinger - father of junior Lucy Holzinger - who passed away in March 2021 from brain cancer. The Holzinger family has formed ties with the Broach Foundation, an organization that has raised over $6 million dollars for research within the last 10 years. Prior to the game, the Lions will wear special warm-up shirts with the Foundation's name and logo. To support the Broach Foundation, please visit www.thebroachfoundation.org/donate.
INSIDE THE SERIES - FAIRFIELD
Columbia holds an 11-5 mark against the Stags. The Lions' five-game win streak over Fairfield was snapped with a 1-0 defeat in Connecticut in 2019. Six of the last seven contests have been decided by one goal.
INSIDE THE SERIES - COLGATE
The Lions and Raiders will face off for the first time since 2013 when Colgate travels down the thruway for a Sunday tilt. Columbia is 5-7 all-time in the series, including a 4-3 overtime win in the last meeting at the Baker Athletics Complex.
