Men's Golf Finishes in Third Place at Cornell Invitational

Pat Healy continues hot streak with fifth place finish, Nathan Han and Wyatt McGovern both tie for ninth place.
WATCHUNG, N.J.—Columbia Men's Golf concluded the Cornell Invitational in third place out of 12 teams after combining for an 11-over-par 286-293-579, while three Lions—junior Pat Healy, sophomore Nathan Han, and first-year Wyatt McGovern—ended the two-day event ranked among the field's top-10 golfers. The 36-hole event was being played at the Watchung Valley Golf Club on Sunday and Monday. Final results are available on Golfstat at this link.
Columbia entered the final 18 holes in third place after shooting a 286 on Sunday. The Lions maintained their place with a 293 on Monday, finishing behind team champion Temple (two-under-par) and second place Colgate (six-over-par). All seven Columbia golfers competed in the event.
Healy continued his hot streak as he registered his best-ever individual finish in fifth place with a one-under-par 70-71-141. On Sunday, Healy finished with four birdies and 12 pars in the first 18 holes. After the first two holes, he was on fire, ending with a scorching 33 on the back nine. Monday saw Healy continue strong play on the front nine and follow with three birdies on holes on 10, 12, and 13.
Sophomore Nathan Han moved up the leaderboard on Monday as he finished tied for ninth place with a one-over-par 72-71-143. Han finished the tourney with eight birdies, including five over the final 18 holes. He was in 17th place after day one.
First-year Wyatt McGovern, playing as an individual in his first collegiate competition, finished the first 18 holes in second place with a three-under-par 68 and concluded the event in ninth place at one-over-par 68-75-143. On the first day of action, McGovern was on fire as he nailed an eagle on hole three and parlayed four birdies before play was suspended due to darkness. He concluded the competition with eight birdies.
First-year William Sung placed 17th at four-over-par 70-76-146 after his first round which saw him nail an eagle on hole five along with four birdies. Sophomore DJ Francey took 30th place at seven-over-par 74-75-149, sophomore Alvin Kwak placed 36th at eight-over-par 75-75-150, and senior Daniel Core finished in 58th at 77-78-155.
Twelve teams competed from 10 schools including Binghamton, Colgate, Columbia, host Cornell, Lafayette, Penn, Princeton, Saint Joseph's, Siena, and Temple. Colgate and Penn enter two teams apiece.
The Seth Raynor-designed Watchung Valley Golf Club course plays to a par of 71 and stretches out to 6,911 yards from the tips.
