Columbia Readies to Welcome VCU on Saturday

Columbia men's tennis will host its first meet of the year at Lifetime in Westchester.
NEW YORK -- The Columbia men's tennis team will host Virginia Commonwealth University on Sat., Jan. 22 at 6:00 P.M.. The match will be contested at Lifetime Westchester in Harrison, NY while Columbia's tennis courts undergo renovations.

There are several current COVID protocols at Lifetime Westchester. Spectators for the event are limited to those on a pass list. Upon entry, members and guests are required to show proof of full vaccination when checking into the facility (ages 12 and up). For youth ages 5-11, one dose is required. Masks are required due to University policy.

The Lions return from a successful opening weekend at the Georgia Tech MLK Invitational, which saw Columbia collect nine singles and dive doubles wins over the three-day competition. No. 12 Alex Kotzen highlighted the weekend with a pair of individual wins, including a three-set victory over #9 Andres Martin.
Fellow Lion, No. 87 Hugo Hashimoto, defeated former Top 10, and current #113, Alex Brown of Illinois in straight sets. Finally, the doubles team of Max Westphal and Alex Finkelstein defeated the #20 team of Casey Kania and Logan Zapp, 6-4.
Four-time reigning A-10 Champions, VCU, feature a trio of ranked athletes. No. 98 Inigo Torre Martin reached his highest individual ITA ranking following a successful fall campaign punctuated by a perfect 6-0 record at October's Fall Regionals. Twin brothers Charles and Maxence Bertimon hold the No. 59 doubles slot.
