
Volleyball Bested by Reigning Ivy League Champs

Robichaud and McBurrows combine for 20 kills
NEW YORK – Kiara Robichaud and Saj McBurrows of Columbia volleyball (3-9, 0-3) combined for 20 kills in the Lions conference matchup with Brown on Saturday night. Columbia fell to the reigning Ivy League champs in straight sets.
McBurrows hit a staggering .467, recording her nine kills on just 15 total attacks. Logan Harlock added five kills on nine attacks. Robichaud logged 33 total attacks. Cadence Gronski tied a career-high in assists, tallying 19.
The teams were even at four in the first set before Brown ripped off four unanswered points. Columbia chipped away at the lead. Trailing 16-11 later in the set, the Lions scored four consecutive points. Pierce Woodall had a kill during the run. Brown responded by outscoring Columbia 8-4, taking the first set 25-20.
The second set was the closest of the night. Columbia made it tough for Brown all set, consistently firing back anytime the Bears tried to make a run. Down 14-13, the Lions put together a 3-0 spurt, taking their first lead of the entire match. Columbia led by as much as four. Staring down a second set defeat, Brown scored six straight points, completing the comeback and winning the set 26-24.
Despite falling down 8-3 in the beginning of the third set, the Lions were responsible for six of the next 10 points, making 12-9 in favor of Brown. The Bear used a 5-0 run late in the set to create some breathing room. Brown won the third set 25-15.
Up next, the Lions travel to Philadelphia on Friday, October 7 for a matchup with Penn at 7:00 p.m.
