ACC wins Ivy Intercollegiate match play event, 20.5 - 9.5
SPRINGFIELD, N.J. —Paige Harrison and Taylor Zeng earned two points for the Ivy League to highlight the match play portion of the first Ivy Intercollegiate, which was hosted Monday and Tuesday at Baltusrol Golf Club.
The unique tournament, which included 36 holes of stroke play on Monday before the two conferences went head-to-head on Tuesday, was tri-hosted by Columbia, Princeton and Yale. UNC was the stroke play team champion on Monday, while the Tar Heels' Krista Junkkari and Florida State's Lottie Woad split medalist honors.
Thirty points were up for grabs in Tuesday's match play. The lineups were set based on how each of the 30 members of each conference finished on Monday. Zeng and Harrison came through for Columbia and the Ivy League, as Zeng won her match over Notre Dame's Jessica Meyers, 4 and 3, while Harrison bested NC State's Pilar Berchot, 3 and 2.
"The Baltusrol experience is like very few places on the earth for a golfer," Columbia women's golf head coach Amy Weeks said. "First of all, just complete gratitude to the golf Gods and the people at Baltusrol who made this happen. Also, a lot of gratitude to our Ivy League peers that made this possible. We couldn't have done it without all six schools working together and using their resources and their friendships to make this weekend possible … it was really really fantastic."
"We wanted to create a dynamic where our players got to experience a different side of golf," Weeks went on to say. "We don't have an opportunity to play match-play golf very much … it's new, conference-versus-conference, but we wanted to show the world that the Ivy League has some great players and this was our opportunity to do that."

Allison Paik was seeded No. 2 for the Ivy League in match play and took on co-medalist Woad. In one of the best matches of the day, Paik came back from 3 down to even up the match by winning holes 13, 14 and 15. A bogey on 17 put Woad 1 up heading to the last. The FSU standout nearly holed out on her approach shot from near 100 yards, resulting in a handshake on the 18th green in favor of Woad.A truly special environment at @BaltusrolGC these past two days for the #IvyIntercollegiate. Thank you to our friends from the @IvyLeague & @theACC for making this such a fun and unique experience. #RoarLionRoar #NCAAGolf #WomenInGolf pic.twitter.com/fQGCfWGWol

The Ivy League won two of the top three pairings, but the ACC showed its class and depth throughout the lineup, taking the competition by a score of 20.5 to 9.5.🗣 Coach Weeks on a fantastic event and fantastic 2 days at @BaltusrolGC #IvyIntercollegiate #IvyvsACC @IvyLeague pic.twitter.com/KM94iAP1Dx
