Paik Cards Final-Round 70 at Columbia Classic

Lions shoot 5-under through final six holes to climb leaderboard
MELBOURNE, Fla. — The women's golf team wrapped up the Columbia Classic on Monday at Duran Golf Club, closing strong across the final holes to finish in the top half of the 14-team field.
Junior Allison Paik led the Lions through the tournament. In Monday's second and final round, Paik shot a 2-under-par 70 to climb 16 spots and earn a tie for 14th. She was the top performer for Columbia in the tournament, totaling a 2-over-par 146. Her final-round was a season-low and included six birdies. Starting on the 10th, she entered her final seven holes 1-over on the day before birdieing the fourth, fifth and sixth to get to 2-under.
Yoko Tai was the next best performer for the Lions. She shot a 3-over 75 in round two, climbing four spots on the leaderboard from her opening-round 77 and tie for 36th in the 80-player field. Christine Shao posted a 76 both days for a tournament total of 8-over-par 152. First-year Emma Shen improved five by five shots from Round 1 to Round 2, including two birdies for a final round 76.
Columbia shot a collective 31-over-par 607 in the 36-hole tournament. After shooting a 310 in round one, the Lions impressed with a 9-over 297 in round two to finish in seventh place.
The Columbia Classic's individual medalist ended in a three-way tie for first place between Catherine Rao (Princeton), Linyu (Anna) Dong (Texas Tech), and Yanjun Liu (Princeton). Texas Tech took home the team trophy after shooting a 5-under-par 571, five strokes ahead of second-place Princeton.
The Lions return to the course on March 17 for the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
