NEW YORK — Columbia women's soccer (6-3-3, 2-1-1 IVY) extended its three-game unbeaten streak with a scoreless draw against Princeton (7-5-1, 1-2-1 IVY) in a Saturday night Ivy League matchup at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.
 
The Lions finished with five shots on goal, led by Ania Prussak's two and both Prussak and Maia Tabion had three shots. In goal Paige Nurkin got the start for the Lions, making one save and Liz Matei took over at the break, making a pair of saves on five shots faced.
 
Princeton controlled the action in the opening half, outshooting the Lions nine to five. But the Tigers were only able to get one shot on goal in the period, while the Lions were able to get two on net.
 
Columbia's first shot on goal came from Sam Gordon, who curled one that was kept out by the Tiger keeper in the 25th minute. Near the end of the half, Blake Turner nearly got the Lions on the board with a shot that was again saved by Princeton's goalie to keep the game scoreless heading into the break.
 
Right off the start, the Lions were on a different level to start the second half, and Tabion's shot in the 55th minute was saved but the tone was set. In the 57th minute, Gordon curled one off the left post as Columbia kept the pressure on.
 
Over the final 15 minutes, the match became a back-and-forth affair with the action going box-to-box as both sides looked to get the winning goal. The Lions had a pair of shots from Prussak saved in the 76th minute and Matei needed to be strong on a shot from Princeton's Ally Murphy in the 86th minute, getting the save to keep the game at 0-0.
 
The Tigers launched one over the goal in the 90th minute in the final chance of the match, as Saturday's Ivy League meeting in New York City ended in a scoreless draw.
 
UP NEXT: Columbia remains at home when they host Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 22 on senior day. With the game set to get going at 6 p.m.
