Women set to start at 11 a.m., followed by the men at noon at Van Cortlandt Park
NEW YORK — Columbia cross country will compete at the 2022 Ivy League Cross Country Heptagonal Championships, hosted on Friday, October 28, at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The women's 6K will start at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at noon.
This year marks the 31st time that the Ivy League has brought the Heps at VCP and the first since 2019 when the women captured their third-straight title and Kenny Vasbinder won the individual men's championship. Since 2002, the women have won six titles on the course (2002-05, 2017, 2019), and the men have captured three championships in the Bronx (2004, 2009, 2015).
The Lions have mixed and matched their lineup throughout the season. Victoria Patterson for the women and Tyler Berg from the men each had two top finishes to pace the squads.
Last season at Heps, Phoebe Anderson earned first-team All-Ivy League honors with her fourth-place finish. Nikki Vanasse and Berg each finished 11th to pick up second-team All-Ivy League honors. As a team, the Lion women had three finishers inside the top 25, and the men had a pair finish inside the top 20. Both teams finished fourth in the team competitions.
