Columbia had four runners earn All-Ivy League honors.
BRONX, N.Y. — Battling through Van Cortlandt Park's grueling cross country course, Columbia cross country's Victoria Patterson clocked a 20:50.8 6K, finishing second to earn first team All-Ivy League honors and give the Columbia women its best finisher, while Tyler Berg crossed in 10th place to pace the Lion men on Friday at the Ivy League Cross Country Heps.
The Columbia women finished fourth overall, collecting 84 points and the Lion men finished seventh with 190 points.
Patterson was in contention from the starting gun, running with Columbia's Phoebe Anderson to give the Lions a pair of blue uniforms in the lead pack. And while Harvard's Maia Ramsden would eventually open a gap between herself and Patterson, the Lion runner held off the surrounding competition down the stretch to cross second for Columbia's top finisher on the day.
Right behind Patterson was Anderson, who collected the second first team All-Ivy League finish of her career with a fifth-place finishing time of 21:08.0. Rounding out Columbia's all-Ivy finishers was Elia Ton-That, who collected an 11th place finish, crossing the line at 21:29.7 to collect the second team All-Ivy League honors.
On the men's side, Berg ran hard from start to finish but down the stretch the pack pulled away from him and he came across at 24:29.7, collecting a 10th place finish and second team All-Ivy League honors. It's the second straight year Berg has locked up All-Ivy League honors at the Cross Country Heps.
