Women's 6K starts at 11 a.m., men's 10K at 12 noon
NEW YORK — After another regular season logged in the books, Columbia Cross Country looks to tie it all together in the postseason, racing in the NCAA Northeast Cross Country Regional on Friday at historic Van Cortlandt Park. The Lions will serve as Regional hosts for the event, which begins with the women's 6K at 11 a.m. The men's 10K follows at 12 noon.
Men's and women's competitors from 42 teams in the Northeast Region will race on Friday. A full list of entries can be accessed here (PDF).
Columbia raced two weeks ago in the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Led by Victoria Patterson's second-place performance in the 6K (20:50.8) and Phoebe Anderson's fifth-place showing (21:08.0). Both Patterson and Anderson earned First Team All-Ivy honors based on their top-seven finishes. Elia Ton-That was 11th and named Second Team All-Ivy. Meanwhile, senior Tyler Berg crossed in 10th in the men's 8K (24:29.9) to earn second-team honors. The women finished fourth overall, while the men took seventh.
REGIONAL INFORMATION:
Fans, spectators and teams looking for information related to Friday's NCAA Regional can access it on a dedicated microsite on GoColumbiaLions.com. The site includes directions to Van Cortlandt Park, course maps, travel information, team entries and more.
VAN CORTLANDT PARK:
Both Columbia teams are extremely familiar with the Van Cortlandt Park Course in the Bronx, with it serving as the Lion's Home Turf. Just this season — of the eight events the Lions competed in — four were also hosted in the Lions' den.
Located in the heart of the Bronx, Van Cortlandt Park has been referred to as the "Heart of Cross Country" as over the last 100 years, the park has played host to some of the greatest meets ever witnessed on United States soil. Columbia's men's and women's cross country teams use the park for training and to host meets. Many of the nation's and East Coast's top meets are held at Van Cortlandt Park, including the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship, ECAC/IC4A Championships and NCAA Cross Country Regionals.
ON DECK:
The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held in Stillwater, Oklahoma on Nov. 19. Anderson and Berg competed at this Hep in 2021 and will be looking for a repeat qualification based on how they finish at Friday's Regional.
