NEW YORK -- The Columbia men's swim and dive team will travel to Princeton to compete in the 2022 Ivy League Championships from Feb. 23-26. The event, set to be contested at DeNunzio Pool, is the first Ivy League men's championship event since 2019. Live stats and video streaming will be available over the course of the week via the Ivy League Championship Central.
The following athletes will represent Columbia in the pool:
SeungJoon Ahn, So. Free/Fly
During the Lions last trip to Princeton, Ahn recorded Columbia's fasted 200 fly time of the season (1:46.40). He holds the Lions' second fastest times of 2022 in both the 200 and 500 free.
Jesse Braun, Sr., Free/Breast
In his return to the pool, Braun set a personal record in the 100 IM (51.15)
Michael Chang, Jr., Breast/IM
Chang has collected NCAA B-qualifying times in the 50, 100, and 200 breast events, ranking first or second for Columbia in such events.
Josh Cho, Fr., Back/Sprints
The rookie has swam Columbia's second fastest times in the 50, 100, and 200 back this season,
Noah Czelusta, So., Breast/IM
Czelusta swam Columbia's third fastest 100 IM time in 52.72.
Demirkan Demir, Fr., Breast
During a standout rookie campaign, Demir has dominated in breast events including a program-record setting swim in the 200 breast (1:54.28).
Jack Engel, Fr., Free/Fly
This season, Engel has recorded personal best times in the 200 (1:47.53) and 1,650 free (17:06.20).
Albert Gwo, Sr., Free/Fly
Gwo has excelled over short distances this season with the second fastest 50 free (20.77) and 50 fly (22.74) times of the Lions' season.
Andy Huang, So., Free/Back
Huang has collected the majority of his points through backstroke events, holding the Lions' fastest 50 back time (22.62).
Jonas Kistorp, Sr., Free/Back
Kistorp is undoubtedly the Lions jack of all (sprint) trades. The senior has produced Columbia's top times in the 50 free (B, 19.73), 100 free (44.71), 100 back (48.28), 50 fly (21.08), and 100 fly (B, 46.08).
Stanford Li, So., Free
Li has been far and away the Lions' highest point-earner amassing 802.75 on the season. A distance specialist, the sophomore produced Columbia's fastest 500, 1,000, and 1,650 free times. His 3:53.03 result in the 400 IM earlier this season is also a team best.
Hayden Liu, Sr., Back/IM
Liu ranks among Columbia's top three swimmers in the 100 and 200 individual medleys.
Tristan Pragnell, Fr., Back
During a successful first collegiate season, Pragnell collected times in Columbia's top 5 for both the 50 and 200 back.
Thomas Shepanzyk, Jr., Free
Shepanzyk holds Columbia's second fastest 100 free result (45.34).
Ike Shirakata, Jr., IM/Breast
Over the 2022 season, Shirakata earned spots among Columbia's top five in the 100 IM, 200 IM, 50 breast, 100 breast, and 200 breast.
Kyle Won, Fr., Back/IM
Won leads the Lions in the 200 back (1:45.83).
Ray Yang, Jr., Fly
Yang holds Columbia's second fastest times in the 50 and 200 fly.
The following athletes will represent Columbia in the diving competition:
Nick Leavell, Jr.
The junior-transfer made an immediate impact on Donie's divers this season and continues to peak at the right time recording a pair of personal bests in the 1M (373.95) and 3M (365.18) during the Lions' last dual meet.
Casey Fellows, Jr.
Fellows has been an essential member of Columbia's rotation, producing solid, consistent dives over the course of the season. Fellows has Ivy League Championship experience, having competed at the 2020 event as a first-year.
Jonathan Suckow, Jr.
Suckow has, arguably, been the most dominant Ivy League swimmer or diver of 2022. He has taken the top spot of every event entered, setting pool records at four different venues on both boards. Earlier this season, the junior became the first diver in Ivy League history to compete the 109C dive, doing so against Cornell. During the Lions' final dual meet of the season, against Dartmouth, Suckow shattered both the pool and program records he himself had set off both boards. Suckow's massive 472.88 mark off the three meter is the highest result ever recorded by an Ivy League diver, surpassing the 2015 mark set by Harvard's Mike Mosca (457.35).
