Lions Place Second at Ivy League Men's Golf Championship

Lions pass Harvard on Sunday for second place; DJ Francey and Nathan Han become second Columbia duo to finish in top-5 of Ivy League Championship in school history; Francey ties for runner-up honors at seven-over-par 75-71-74-220, Han ties for fourth at eight-over-par 75-72-74-221.
PURCHASE, N.Y.—Fueled by DJ Francey's second place performance and Nathan Han's fourth place finish, Columbia concluded the three-day competition in second place during Sunday's final round of the 2022 Ivy League Men's Golf Championship at Century Country Club. Day after day, the Lions battled their way up the leaderboard. After sitting in fifth after Friday, the Lions moved into third place on Saturday, then passed Harvard on Sunday to finish in second place at 40-over-par 307-285-300-892. With a five-stroke lead at the finish, Yale won the team title at 35-over-par 292-289-306-887. Columbia finished second for the second straight Ivy League Championship as the Lions also earned runner-up honors back in 2019.
Francey and Han both took home Ivy League medals and earn First Team All-Ivy League honors. They become just the second duo in school history to place in the top-5 of the Ivy League Championship in the same year, following Harrison Shih and Brandon Jowers, who achieved that distinction in 2014.
Francey's performance ranked tied for the 10th all-time best individual outing at the Ivy League Championship. His second place finish also ranked tied for third all-time best individual placing. Francey concluded the tourney at seven-over-par 75-71-74-220. Over the weekend, he notched eight birdies and 32 pars. He began Sunday's final round tied for fifth place, just three strokes out of first place, and finished with three birdies including back-to-back on holes 10 and 11. On Saturday, he heated up on the back nine as he sank three birdies on holes 12, 15, and 16 and finished at 34. In Friday's first round he sank one birdie and notched 12 pars.
Han was equally impressive throughout the weekend as he finished in fourth at eight-over-par 75-72-74-221. Han led the tournament in par-5 scoring (4.33) and registered eight birdies. On Sunday he carded back-to-back birdies on holes 14 and 15. On Saturday, he registered five birdies on Saturday for his 70 after a Friday first round which saw him sink a birdie on hole 2, card an eagle on hole 8, and finish with 12 pars.
Wyatt McGovern and Daniel Core both finished the weekend tied for 16th at 14-over-par 227. McGovern shot 78-72-77-227
McGovern made his move on Saturday when he recorded four birdies including back-to-back on holes 11 and 12.
Core came in at 79-70-78-227. On Saturday, he made the made the biggest jump in the standings, from 22nd place into 11th place after shooting a team-low 70. He concluded the day with six birdies, including three consecutive on holes 1, 2, and 3. Core finished with two birdies on Sunday.
Pat Healy rounded out Columbia's scorers tied for 26th place at 22-over-par 81-79-75-235. Sunday was his best day as he contributed a 75 with two birdies.

On Saturday, Columbia fired a 285, the fifth-lowest team round score in its Ivy League Men's Golf Championship history. In Saturday's second round, the Lions combined a 70 from Core, 71 from Francey, 72 from Han, and 72 from McGovern to tally their 285.
Century Country Club has a par of 71 with a total yardage of 7,023.
