Lifetime Westchester Match Program ITA Tennis Rankings

The Columbia Lions are set to battle Harvard this Saturday afternoon.

NEW YORK -- No. 23 Columbia's storied men's tennis team is set to host No. 16 Harvard in Saturday's Ivy League opener. The match, scheduled to begin at 1:00 P.M., will be contested at LifeTime Westchester in Harrison, NY.

SPECTATOR INFORMATION:
Fans in attendance must be on the, very limited, Columbia Men's Tennis team guest pass list to attend this event.

You will not be permitted to attend the tennis match at Life Time Athletic Westchester unless;
- you are on a team guest pass list
- you are a Life Time Athletic Westchester member
- you purchase a day pass for $50

There are currently no COVID restrictions at LifeTime Athletic Westchester. Masks are optional. Fans/Spectators for the event are limited to those on a pass list.

COLUMBIA LIONS
Columbia last competed an Ivy League slate in 2019 when the Lions' reign of dominance extended to its sixth consecutive league title. With 15 total championships to the program's credit, the Lions consistently draw elite athletes to Morningside Heights including New York native #13 Alex Kotzen and 2021 U.S. Open Boys Doubles Champion, Max Westphal of Paris, France.

Playing from the top spot, Kotzen owns a 12-of-14 win record in singles matches to lead the nationally ranked Columbia program. Earlier this spring, the Lions defeated #21 North Carolina (4-3), #63 Penn State (5-2), and #19 Northwestern (4-3), cementing the team's place among the nation's best.

In the doubles competition, Westphal, and teammate Theo Winegar, have collected ten victories, including a 7-5 result over 2021 NCAA Doubles Champions Pat Harper and Adam Walton of Tennessee.

This spring, the Lions have recorded nine victories and closed non-conference play with a 6-1 victory over Navy last week. Columbia looks to defend its title as Ivy League matches begin this week. Following Saturday's match against Harvard, the Manhattan-based program will welcome Dartmouth to Lifetime Athletic on Sunday, April 10 before traveling up New England for a weekend series against Brown and Yale.

THE OPPONENT
The Crimson enter Saturday boasting an 11-4 record. Powered by a trio of ranked competitors, Harvard handily defeated Brown, Princeton, and Columbia to win the out-of-conference ECAC Tournament in February before defeating Dartmouth 7-0 in its Ivy League opener last weekend.

This season, #29 Henry Schulenburg plays from Harvard's top spot, bringing with him a wealth of international experience at the junior level. Teammate Brian Shi follows close behind, earning a #29 singles ranking after clinching the match-deciding point against #37 Pepperdine. From the third position, #63 Harris Walker continues a standout Crimson-career after leading Harvard with a 29-8 singles record as a freshman.
