Lions Turn Attention To Ivy League Outdoor Heps

Columbia Track & Field will head to New Haven for the first Outdoor Heps since 2019.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — After a solid year of competition, Columbia Track & Field now turns its attention, for the first time since 2019, to the Ivy League Outdoor Heps Track & Field Championships set to run at the Cuyler Athletic Complex and Dwyer Track, Frank Field from Saturday, May 7 to Sunday, May 8.
On Saturday, the weekend begins with the men's hammer throw at 11 a.m., and on the track the first event will be the men's 1500m trials scheduled for 1 p.m. The final day gets started at 11 a.m. with the women's high jump and the men's 3000m is scheduled to run at 11:15 a.m.
Both days will be broadcast on ESPN+, and live results will be available via the Ivy League.
LAST TIME OUT: The Lions posted a second-place finish in the women's 4x400m Relay to highlight their time at the Penn Relays (Apr. 27-30), while at the Yale Springtime Invitational they took four events and had 23 top-five finishes on Sunday, May 1.
The women's 4x400m Relay squad of Alexis Knight, Sydney Goldson, Kimmi Woods and Amara Onyeukwu clocked a time of 3:42.00 to cross the line in second place for Columbia's best overall finish at the Penn Relays. While in the field, Kali Hatcher leaped 12.74m to finish fourth in the women's triple jump.
At the Yale Springtime Invite, the Lions got event wins from Tess Darnell (400m Hurdles), Lauren Grela (3,000m), Jahi Hernandez (200m) and Gavin White (3,000m Steeplechase). Darnell clocked a time of 1:04.30, Grela finished in 9:59.22, Hernandez passed the line at 21.53 and White crossed in 9:39.67.
Columbia also went one-two in the women's 400m Hurdles and men's 200m with Fredericka Walker finishing second in with a time of 1:04.92 in the 400m Hurdles and Chris Balthazar clocking a second-place time of 21.56 in the 200m.
