Camacho Earns All-Ivy Honors At Ivy League Outdoor Heps

Columbia Track & Field qualified 11 to Sunday's finals, while Chris Balthazar set a school record in the 100m.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Finishing second with a time of 34:53.64 in the 10,000m Sofia Camacho earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors and with a time of 10.65 Chris Balthazar set a school record in the 100m to highlight Columbia Track & Field's first day at the 2022 Ivy League Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted at windy and wet Dwyer Track.
11 Lions qualified for the finals in six different events, with seven women and four men punching their tickets to Sunday's finals. Columbia also had two Lions finish first overall when Sydney Goldson took first in the 400m and Justin O'Toole posted a first place finish in the 800m.
Camacho sat in the top-three for the entire race, and over the final several laps she pulled away along with Harvard's Isabell Sagar. Finishing with a gap of just under .50 seconds, Camacho locked up her second All-Ivy League honors of the season, having earned Second Team Indoor All-Ivy League honors in the 5,000m
O'Toole, who finished with a time of 1:51.95, was joined by Brandon Hicks' sixth-place finishing time of 1:53.93 with both Lions advancing to the finals of the 800m. O'Toole won his heat, finishing with the best time overall, thanks to a strong finish where he caught and passed Princeton's Ethan Reese down the stretch.
Columbia's other qualifiers came in the women's 100m, 400m hurdles and 1,500m with Tessa Green posting a fifth-place finishing time of 11.94 and Tess Darnell finishing sixth overall in the 400m hurdles to qualify with a time of 1:03.52. In the women's 1,500m Nikki Vanasse finished third with a time of 4:29.05 and Emily Virtue finished seventh, posting a qualifying time of 4:33.85.
On the men's side, Jahi Hernandez finished eighth overall to qualify for the 200m finals with a time of 21.27 and in the 1,500m Michael Danzi posted a time of 4:14.39 to qualify for the finals.

In the women's 400m, Columbia qualified four Lions lead by Goldson's top time of 55.16. Amara Onyeukwu, who won her heat with a time of 55.90, finished fourth overall and Alexis Knight crossed with a time of 56.52 to advance to Sunday's final with a seventh-place overall finish.👏👏👏
