Lions seek first Ivy League win this season
NEW YORK — Columbia field hockey hosts Brown on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Columbia Field Hockey Complex in the Broach Foundation match.
BROACH FOUNDATION MATCH
At Sunday's match, the Lions will be supporting the Broach Foundation, a 501 C 3 non-profit charitable organization for brain cancer research. You can donate to the Broach Foundation by clicking here. Please add 'CUFH' in the notes section.
This foundation is extremely important to the Columbia field hockey family as alumni Lucy Holzinger '23BC lost her father, Rick Holzinger, as well as her uncle, to brain cancer. Columbia's Status
The Lions (3-9, 0-4) look to snap a four-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon. Columbia held a 1-0 lead into the fourth quarter of its most recent match at Boston University last Sunday, but gave up two goals in the final frame and fell to the Terriers.
Mckenzie Bloom netted her team-leading fifth goal of the season last Sunday and is tied with Lindsey Yu for the lead in points with 11. Katie Wimmer is tied for second among Ivy League goalkeepers with 69 saves this season.
Brown's Status
The Bears (4-7, 0-4) enter Sunday's matchup having lost six in a row. Imogen Govan and Lexi Pellegrino are tied for the team lead in goals with three. Goalkeeper Kylee Del Monte has started all 11 games and has made 48 saves. She has a goals against average of 1.62.
Series History - Brown
Columbia is 14-11 all-time against Brown and won last year's match on the road in overtime, 3-2. The Lions have defeated the Bears in 13 of their last 15 meetings.
