PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Columbia will face No. 14 Brown for the second time this season in the semifinals of the inaugural Ivy League Tournament on Friday at Brown's Stevenson-Pincince Field. First kick is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN+.
"Our team has been feeling the urgency to get a result since Yale and we have shown up with a great mindset all week in training, focused on the next team and next game and what we need to do to win it," Columbia Women's Soccer Head Coach
Tracey Bartholomew said. "The momentum going into the tournament is wonderful to have. It all starts over though and anything can happen. Brown has been the top program for the past four seasons and our team is focusing everything on beating them. The winning mindset helps keep our confidence high, which we want to have against Brown."
THE REMATCH
Columbia will meet Brown for the second time this season after the Bears took a 1-0 win on October 14 in New York. Goalkeeper
Paige Nurkin tallied four saves in the game.
Kat Jordan,
Sam Gordon and
Shira Cohen each fired a shot on goal.
The Lions will be looking for revenge and a spot in the Ivy League Tournament championship game when the teams meet Friday. Brown enters the contest ranked 14
th in the nation with an 11-1-2 overall record. The Bears finished off a perfect 7-0 mark in Ivy League play with a 2-0 win over Dartmouth last Saturday.
"Brown is a very strong team with a lot of talent," senior midfielder
Kat Jordan said. "All the girls and coaches know this and respect that program. However, I think we have realized this season that we are also such a strong program with so much depth and talent. Every player is so important to the success of our team, and everyone has contributed to the highest RPI this program has been ranked. We have played Brown before, and it is important for us to be locked in leading up to this game and match-up physically and technically. If we play to our best ability on Friday, I think this game will be very exciting."
