HANOVER, N.H. – Winta Tewolde posted the only win of the day for the Lions as the team fell to Brown, 4-1 on the second day of the ECAC Championships. Columbia drops to 2-4 overall in dual matches this spring.
Brown's duo of Nora Lee and Vivian Miller got things started for the Bears as they defeated
Rachele Rimondini and Fatime Keita, 6-3 at the No. 2 doubles. Phoebe Peus and Lindsey Hofflander secured the doubles point for Brown with a 6-2 win against Tewolde and
Michelle Xu at the No. 3 doubles.
Carrying the momentum over from the doubles point, Britany Lau posted a 6-3, 6-1 win against
Anna Zhang at the No. 1 singles. Tewolde answered with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Addison Ahlstrom at the No. 5 spot to put the Lions on the board.
Brown would answer by winning the next two singles matches to complete the 4-1 win. Peus defeated Rimondini, 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 singles before Ali Benedetto clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against
Sophia Wang at the No. 4 spot.
UP NEXT
The Lions will wrap up play at the ECAC Championships on Sunday in the third-place match against Harvard. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
