ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Members of the Columbia men's and women's swim team made the trip to Maryland to compete in the 2023 ECAC Swim & Dive Championships, hosted by the Naval Academy, this weekend. Both teams had great success in the event, and finished in third place after three full days of competition that began back on Friday.
The men's team finished with 392 points. Navy won the event with a score of 814.5. Buckenell came in second with 416 points.
The Lady Lions closed the competition with 386 points. Navy (546) and Bucknell (503) also took the top-two spots on the women's side.
The highlight of the event came when men's senior diver
Casey Fellows was crowned ECAC Diver of the Meet after winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. After winning the 1-meter boards on day one, he completed the sweep with a score of 355.35 on the 3-meter, making himself the easy choice for this award.
Other highlights from the final two days on the men's side included a gold medal from
Caleb Apodaca in the 400-IM (3:51.14) and a silver medal from
Seth Roach in the 200-fly (1:47.34).
Meanwhile for the women,
Jessica Peng was a star. She won a silver medal in the 200-fly with a time of 2:03.61, and also has a fourth-place finish in the 100-fly. Columbia's other top-three finisher was Tine Le, who won bronze in the 100-free with a time of 51.25.
On the final event of the night, both the men and women closed out the ECAC Championships in exciting fashion. It was the 400-free relay, and the women earned a silver medal as the team of
Tina Le,
Jessica Peng,
Taylor Whang, and
Callie Breiter clocked in with a time of 3:26.88. The men finished fourth in the event.

Up next for the Lions will be the NCAA Championships. They will begin on March 8 in Morgantown, West Virginia.
