LEONIA, N.J. — Lightweight and women's rowing will race in scrimmages on Saturday, March 25, at Overpeck Park.
The defending Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship lightweight program will race against Bates and the women's program will compete against Bates and Bucknell.
Last season, the lightweight rowing program claimed its third national title since 2016 as the Lions won the First Varsity Eight championship race by two seconds and also took home the All-Points Trophy at the 119th annual IRA Championship Regatta.
Columbia women's rowing placed sixth in the Ivy League championships last season and had seniors Ishara Abbey earn first team All-Ivy League honors and
Tteja Senthilnathan take home Second Team All-Ivy accolades.
Race Schedule
6:00-8:30 a.m. — Practice Block for All Programs
8:30-10 a.m. — Columbia Lightweight Men & Columbia Women vs. Bates: Session 1 (Launch window opens at 8 a.m.)
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. — Columbia Lightweight Men & Columbia Women vs. Bates & Bucknell: Session 2 (Launch window opens at 11 a.m.)
About Overpeck Park
Located in Leonia, New Jersey, Overpeck County Park is an 811-acre county park in Bergen County, with major sections in Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, and Teaneck, surrounding Overpeck Creek, a tributary of the Hackensack River. Spectators can enter the park from the Challenger Road entrance by following directions to the Overpeck County Park Amphitheatre. If parking near the team launch site, race viewing is best seen from the western shore about a 15 minute walk from the parking area.
