No. 7 Lightweight Rowing Hosts Subin Cup Sunday

Lions will race No. 9 Dartmouth
LEONIA, N.J. — Columbia lightweight rowing hosts Dartmouth in the Subin Cup on Sunday at Overpeck Park.
In last year's races with the Big Green, Columbia won its three final races of the day and the First Varsity Eight captured the Subin Cup with a head-to-head victory over No. 9 ranked Dartmouth.
Last week, the Lions raced against Princeton and Georgetown in the National Collegiate Lightweight Invitational. Columbia dropped all three races to Princeton. However, the Lions picked up a pair of first-place finishes in the second and third varsity eight against Georgetown.
In 1987, the Subin Cup was established in honor of D. William Subin, Dartmouth '63, Columbia Law '66. Subin coxed the heavyweight varsity at Dartmouth and coached lightweights while studying law at Columbia.
Before Sunday's home race, the Lions take on No. 3 Navy in the WIT Cup in Annapolis, Md. on Saturday. The first race is set for 7:45 a.m. with the First Varsity Eight race scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

About Overpeck Park
Located in Leonia, New Jersey, Overpeck County Park is an 811-acre county park in Bergen County, with major sections in Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, and Teaneck, surrounding Overpeck Creek, a tributary of the Hackensack River. Spectators can enter the park from the Challenger Road entrance by following directions to the Overpeck County Park Amphitheatre. If parking near the team launch site, race viewing is best seen from the western shore about a 15 minute walk from the parking area.
