Columbia Track & Field Wraps Up Day One of Ivy League Outdoor Heps

Chris Balthazar breaks program record in 200m run
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Columbia outdoor track & field team finished up day one of the 2023 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track & Field Championships late Saturday night.
This year's competition, being hosted by Penn at Franklin Field, sees the men sitting in seventh place with two points, while the women remain scoreless after the first day of events.
The highlight of the day came in the men's 200m run, when Chris Balthazar broke the Columbia record with a time of 20.81 to place second and qualify for tomorrow's finals.
Besides multiple student-athletes also qualifying for more finals tomorrow, there was a plethora of other highlights.
Making the podium and scoring points for the men was Joshua Adams and Talha Syed, who both placed 6th in their respective events, the high jump (7.33) and 10k (30:03.26), respectively. This was also a personal best mark for Adams.
Day two begins tomorrow with the high jump at 11 a.m.
