Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Take on Harvard Tomorrow

In Cambridge, the women will swim first at 1:30 p.m. followed by the men at 4:00 p.m.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Columbia men's and women's swimming and diving programs are on the road this weekend, both set for a clash with Harvard on Friday afternoon. The women will compete first, squaring off against the Crimson at 1:30 p.m. followed by the men's meet at 4 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
In their first road meet of the season, the men lost to the Yale Bulldogs 209-91. Joseph Nicol picked up a big win on the 3m boards to open the day, while Adam Wu and Gian Santos both picked up another win for the Lions.
The women last swam against Yale at Uris Natatorium on Friday, November 15. Emily MacDonald continued her stellar start to the season, winning three more events including the 100 and 200 freestyle. Columbia closed the meet by taking the final event of the night, the 200 free relay. The team of MacDonald, Sally Ma, Annabel Cui, and Isabel Lee finished first with their fastest time of the season so far, 1:33.48.
SCOUTING HARVARD MEN
The Harvard men are 2-0 so far this season, with wins over Cornell and Dartmouth. Adam Wesson is off to an incredible start to the season for the Crimson, as he already broke the school record on the 1-meter board with a score of 398.65. The senior also won the 3-meter competition in the season opener after producing a score of 371.45. Last year, Harvard finished 6-2 overall with a 6-1 mark in the Ivy League, including a 167-131 win over Columbia. The Crimson would go on to win the Ivy League title.

SCOUTING HARVARD WOMEN
The Harvard women have gotten off to a 4-0 start to the season, with wins coming over Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown and Boston College. Alexandra Bastone has had a great start to the year, as she set the Teagle Pool record in the 500 free with a winning time of 4:50.33 last time out. The sophomore also won the 1,000 free by nearly 10 seconds, logging a time of 10:02.89. Last year, the Crimson finished with a 5-2 overall record and 5-2 mark in the Ivy League, including a 188-112 win over the Lions. Harvard would go on to finish second at the Ivy League Championships.

Both teams have next weekend off before the winter invite season begins. The men will participate in the Big Al Invite, while the women will compete both against Princeton at Big Al, and in the ECAC Winter Championships where they have won back-to-back titles.
