Lions open season February 21; home opener set for March 22
NEW YORK – Columbia softball head coach Jennifer Teague announced the team's 2025 schedule on Friday. The 41-game regular season slate includes 15 home contests, as well as tournaments in Florida and a spring break trip to California.
Columbia's 2025 schedule features games against five teams that competed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, including Florida Gulf Coast, UCF, Saint Mary's, Princeton and Albany.
"We are super excited for the schedule that we have put together this year," Teague said. "It's a mix of top conference performers and NCAA Regional contenders. I think our non-conference schedule is going to set us up to get off to another great start in Ivy League play. Team 26 can't wait to get started."
Columbia will begin its 2025 campaign on February 21 with a doubleheader against Quinnipiac and Pittsburgh as part of the UCF SpaceU Classic. The Lions will also play Florida Gulf Coast, UCF and Quinnipiac a second time during the opening weekend in Orlando, Florida.
The Lions will return to Florida two weeks later for the FGCU Spring Break Classic starting March 7 in Fort Myers. Columbia will face Toledo in the first game before playing both FGCU and Lehigh twice to finish the weekend.
Columbia then travels to California for its annual spring break trip to serve as the final tune up before Ivy League action begins. The Lions will play Weber State, Saint Mary's (twice), Portland State, Santa Clara and Sacramento State during the trip.
Ivy League play begins on March 22 as Columbia will host Penn for the first conference doubleheader of the season. The Lions will also host Brown, Cornell and Dartmouth as part of the 2025 Ivy League slate. Columbia will travel to Harvard, Yale and Princeton this season.
In its third season now, the Ivy League Tournament will be hosted by the top seed and will feature the top four teams at the end of the regular season. The tournament to determine the Ivy League's automatic qualifier in the NCAA Tournament will begin on Thursday, May 8 and wrap up on Saturday, May 10.
Columbia will play four non-conference midweek games in between Ivy League contests this season. The Lions will host Albany, Iona and Manhattan in New York City. Columbia will also travel to Monmouth.
