NEW YORK — Columbia track and field, softball and men's tennis are featured in this week's edition of Lions on the Road. Every week, GoColumbiaLions.com will be using "Lions on the Road" to preview that week's upcoming games and events happening off campus.
TRACK AND FIELD
The Columbia track and field team continues its outdoor season with a very busy next few days. The team will participate in two meets this weekend, the first being the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State. The competition will span Thursday-Friday at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility. On Saturday, the team will return to the metro area and take part in the Sam Howell Invite hosted by Princeton in New Jersey. The Lions had a good start to their outdoor season last weekend at the Penn Challenge in Philadelphia, which included two second-place finishes. Devon Davey had the highest finish in the track events, taking second place in the 200m with a time of 21.81.Obiora Okeke highlighted the field events, placing second in the discus throw with a mark of 46.19m. Aminah Martin had the highest finish for the women, finishing in third place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.70.
SOFTBALL
The Columbia softball team continues its Ivy League schedule this weekend on the road at Cornell. Columbia opened the Ivy League slate with a series victory over Princeton at home last weekend. The Tigers won the first game before Columbia bounced back to claim the second game and win the series on a walk-off wild pitch in the series finale Sunday. The series victory was Columbia's first over Princeton since 2019.
Cornell enters the weekend with a 3-14 overall mark and a 1-2 mark in Ivy League action. The Big Red opened league play by falling in a series on the road at Penn last weekend. Cornell and Penn split Friday's doubleheader before Penn took Sunday's series finale.

Ninth-ranked men's tennis opens the Ivy League schedule on the road at No. 31 Cornell this Saturday. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the Reis Tennis Center. There will be no live stats or stream available for the match. Columbia enters the match 14-2 overall after posting wins over Marist and Wagner in last weekend's doubleheader. The Lions posted a 4-0 win over Marist before finishing the day with a 7-0 win over Wagner.
