NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Eastern Prelims Begin Tomorrow

10 Lions will compete in Kentucky
LEXINGTON, Ky. — 10 Columbia Track & Field student-athletes are set to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field NCAA Championship Eastern Prelims which begin on Wednesday morning at the University of Kentucky.
The competition spans four days and will conclude on Saturday, May 25. All 10 Lions will be looking to finish in the top-12 of their respective events and punch their ticket to the NCAA Championship finals next month.
The first Lion to compete will be Joshua Adams who will partake in the first round of the long jump at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Later in the evening, Michael Danzi will take part in the first round of the 1500m at 6:30 p.m. and Justin O'Toole will run in the opening round of the 800m at 7:50 p.m. Both will look to advance to the quarterfinals of each event which will take place on Friday evening.
Talha Syed and Charlie Siebert will both compete in the semifinals of the 10k on Wednesday at 9:10 p.m. and will look to finish in the top-12 to punch an NCAA Championship ticket.
Nikki Vanasse will be the first woman to compete, participating in the first round of the 1500m on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. She will look to advance to the quarterfinals which will take place on Saturday evening.
Mary Caroline Heinen will run in the semifinals of the 10k on Thursday at 9:10 p.m. and will look to earn a spot in Oregon with a top-12 finish.
Obiora Okeke will compete in the first round of the shot put on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. as well as the first round of the discus on Friday at 1 p.m.
On Saturday at 5:40 p.m., Elia Ton-That will run in the quarterfinals of the 3000m steeplechase. Later that evening at 8:10 p.m., Phoebe Anderson will compete in the semifinals of the 5000m.

For qualified athletes who finish in the top-12 of their respective events at the eastern prelims, the finals of the NCAA Championships will begin on Thursday, June 6 in Eugene, Ore.
