Field Hockey Blanked by Monmouth on Sunday

NEW YORK — Columbia field hockey was shutout by Monmouth, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon from Columbia Field Hockey Complex.
Monmouth's Lilly Ricks recorded the lone goal of the contest at 8:48 of the third quarter. Ricks found a loose ball and drilled it into the back of the cage.
Columbia goalkeeper Katie Wimmer kept the Lions close all game with 13 saves, including four in the final frame.
The Lions (2-3, 1-0) were unable to find the back of the cage despite two Monmouth green cards and five penalty corners in the match. Jacinta Solari Etcheberry was the lone Lion with multiple shots on goal. The Hawks (6-1) outshot Columbia 20-8 (14-5 on goal).
Emma Reilly, Sam Petrucco, and Lindsey Yu each tallied a shot on goal for Columbia. The Lions are back home Friday night to host Princeton at 6 p.m.
