MADISON, Wis. — The Columbia cross country women traveled west on Friday morning to compete in the annual Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational at Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
As is the case every year, the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational housed some of the top teams in the nation—welcoming 15 ranked opponents on the women's side. Oregon and Washington, two new members of the revised 18-team Big Ten, highlighted the top programs making their way to Wisconsin, ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
The Lions had a solid performance in the event, led by
Phoebe Anderson who finished fourth overall in the 6k with a time of 20:11.4.
Rory Clare was Columbia's second-highest finisher, clocking in at 22:26.1 to place 168th.
Scarlett Martin was right behind her in 174th, finishing with a time of 22:35.1, followed by
Brigid McCabe in 177th place and
Leanna Johnston in 180th place.

Both the men and women return to action next Saturday at the Paul Short run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
