NEW YORK – The Columbia cross country team's 2025 season continued on Friday morning at the Iona Meet of Champions hosted at Van Cortlandt Park.
After a great showing last weekend at the season opening Fordham Fiasco, both the men's and women's teams impressed once again on Friday. The women finished in second place for the second consecutive week, posting a score of 43, while the men finished in third with a score of 77. Princeton and Yale tied for first on the men's side with 69 points each, while the Tigers finished alone in first on the women's side with a score of 19.
Rory Clare had a dominant performance to lead the Lions, placing second in the 5k with a time of 17:47.30. Columbia also took 8-10th in the 5k, with
Olivia Murray (18:09.50),
Leanna Johnston (18:14.90), and
Ava Malagisi (18:19.00) rounding out the top 10.
On the men's side,
Edward Blaha led the way in the five mile with a ninth place finish and time of 25:42.80.
Henry Koike-Sieira was right behind him in 10th with a time of 25:43.10.
George Blaha took 11th place with a time of 25:43.20.

The Lions will have the next couple of weekends off before returning to action on Friday, October 3 at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh.
