Picks up first career award following first career hat trick
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia's Nata Ramirez has been named the Ivy League Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played August 26 – September 1. The league office announced this week's award winners Tuesday afternoon.
Ramirez scored her first three goals of the season for her first collegiate hat trick in Sunday's 4-4 draw at Tennessee Tech. In what was an eight-goal half between the two sides, Ramirez opened the scoring by finishing a cross from Sam Cohn in the 51st minute. She put the Lions back on top with a leaping strike in the 64th minute, drew a penalty that Maia Tabion finished in the 83rd and put away the final tally with 64 seconds left to earn her side the draw.
In total, Ramirez fired off six shots against Tennessee Tech, four coming on goal and three of which found the back of the net. She added another shot on goal two days earlier at Vanderbilt.
The Ivy League Player of the Week Award is the first of Ramirez's career.
