Men's Swimming and Diving Hosts Brown Saturday

Lions will honor seven seniors during the final meet at Uris this season
NEW YORK — The Columbia men's swimming and diving team is set to host its final home meet of the 2024-25 season at Uris Natatorium on Saturday against the Brown Bears. The competition is scheduled to begin at noon.
SENIOR DAY
During the 10-minute break after the 100-fly which will be the 14th event of the afternoon, Columbia and Head Coach Jim Bolster will honor his group of seven seniors who will be swimming in the final home meet of their careers on Saturday. This includes Caleb Apodaca, Logan Cicman, Josh Cho, Demirkan Demir, Jack Engel, Andrew Fouty, and Tristan Pragnell.
"Tomorrow we celebrate our class of outstanding seniors," Head Coach Jim Bolster said. "A group known as much for their talent in the pool as their talent in the classroom. Potential difference makers and scholars we salute you. We thank you for your contributions and we wish you well!"
LAST TIME OUT
The Lions are returning from their winter training trip in West Palm Beach, with the last meet they competed in being the Big Al Invite on December 6th.
In the first individual event of the meet, Adam Wu finished in second place in the 500 free with a time of 4:19.93. Gian Santos was right behind him in sixth with a time of 4:23.76.
Wu had the highlight of the weekend, winning the 200 free with a time of 1:35.20.
Zion James finished second in the 50 free with a time of 19.80, one tenth of a second behind first place. Wu was right behind him with a time of 20.01 to take third. James also placed second in the 100 free, clocking in at 43.41.
Joshua Corn also earned a second place, clocking in at 1:54.92 in the 200 breast.
For the divers, Joseph Nicol placed second on both the 1m and 3m boards while Will Cooley placed second in the platform dive.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears are 3-2 so far this season, with a 2-2 mark in Ivy League competitions. The two wins came against Dartmouth and Penn, while the two losses came to Yale and Princeton. Last time out, Brown finished in first place at the Bruno Invite hosted at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in Providence. Last year, Harvard finished 3-4 overall with a 3-4 mark in the Ivy League, including a 182-116 win over Columbia. The Bears would go on to finish fifth at the Ivy League Championships.

The Lions will close out the 2024-25 regular season with three consecutive road meets, with the first coming against Cornell on Saturday, January 18th.
