Track & Field Set to Host Dr. Sander Scorcher this Weekend

Action begins on Friday morning at the Armory
NEW YORK — Columbia Track & Field returns to the historic Armory this weekend, as the Lions host the Dr. Sander Scorcher. The first event begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, with the women's 3000m. The competition will continue on Saturday morning with the women's mile at 9:20 a.m.

THE FIELD
The field participating in the Columbia challenge this year is very competitive, and contains schools from all around the country. This includes: Army, Albany, BYU, Colgate, Georgia Southern, Iona, La Salle, Lehman, Lehigh, LIU, Manhattan, Maryland, Monmouth, NYU, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Ramapo, Rowan, Saint Peter's, Temple, and Virginia

8 AGAINST HATE
This weekend, Columbia track & field is proud tp support the Ivy League in hosting its "8 Against Hate Weekend" at the Armory.
8 Against Hate is a league-wide initiative inclusive of campus programming and support for student-athletes, coaches and staff — promoting a consistent and unwavering message against all forms of discrimination and hate.
Be on the lookout for a special message on the video board prior to each day, as well as the Lions wearing "8 Against Hate" t-shirts.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Lions took on Dartmouth and Yale in a tri-meet in Hanover.
The men's team won the meet with 59 points, while the women's team finished third with 42 points.
This was just the second time in program history Columbia won this tri-meet which has existed for over 40 years, with the only other time coming in 2019.
Collin Moore continued to have a great start to the season, placing first in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.02m.
Sophomore Jessica Thompson finished first in the women's pole vault while Liam Wright placed second in the men's.
Obiora Okeke also had a fantastic day with a first place finish in shot put with a mark of 18.36m and a second place finish in weight throw with a mark of 19.74m.
ON DECK:
Next weekend, the Lions will close out January with participation in the METS Indoor Championships at Ocean Breeze. The competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. in Staten Island on Friday, January 31.
