NEW YORK — Columbia baseball welcomes Fairfield to Robertson Field at Satow Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday's game between the Lions (14-16, 8-4) and Stags (26-8, 13-2) can be followed via live stats or
watched live on ESPN+. Columbia is 46-10 at home since the beginning of 2022.
Last Time Out
Columbia won Sunday's series finale at Yale, 6-3. The Lions strung together nine hits and capitalized on six walks to hand Yale the loss and avoid the sweep.
Griffin Palfrey finished 2-for-5 with two runs, and two RBIs, including a solo home run in the third inning that gave Columbia an early 2-0 lead.
Offensive Explosion
Once again, Columbia's offense has been one of the top in the Ivy League. The Lions lead the conference in runs per game (7.9), home runs (40) and hits (280). Individually, Sam Miller has 43 hits to lead all Ivy Leaguers, while his and
Anton Lazits' eight dingers are tops in the conference. On the mound,
Thomas Santana earned the win, allowing just one earned run across 6.2 innings while striking out seven.
Will Harrigan notched his second save with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief. Harrigan got a double play ball with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to end the game.
A Tradition of Excellence
Since 2012, Columbia leads the Ivy League with 160 conference wins, 11 wins over ranked opponents, six NCAA Tournament wins, and six Ivy League Championships. In that span, the Lions have also produced 12 Major League Baseball Draft selections and have had 18 players in MLB organizations.
Boretti Reaches Milestone
Head coach Brett Boretti collected his 500th career win in game one at Princeton on March 29. Last season, the four-time Ivy League Coach of the Year became Columbia baseball's all-time wins leader. Boretti has the sixth-most wins among Ivy League baseball head coaches all-time.
Series History - Fairfield
Columbia is 4-6 all-time against the Stags and the two teams will meet for the first time since 2004.
Up Next
Columbia welcomes Dartmouth for a doubleheader on Saturday for Alumni Day and then the series finale on Sunday for Senior Day.
