McGovern, Lester T-2nd After Round 1 of Ivy League Championship

Lions (+12) in fourth with two rounds to play
SPRINGFIELD, Pa. — Columbia's Wyatt McGovern and Grant Lester fired a pair of 1-under-par 69s to lead the Lions on Friday in Round 1 of the Ivy League Men's Golf Championship. The event is being held Friday-Sunday at Rolling Green Golf Club.
Both McGovern and Lester carded three birdies and two bogeys in their respective rounds. Lester was 2-under at the turn with two birdies across a bogey-free front nine. He bogeyed the 258-yard, par-3 10th, got it back with a birdie at the par-4 12th, bogeyed the 13th and came home with five straight pars. McGovern was 1-under at the turn with two birdies and one bogey. He played the back even, bogeying the 450-yard, par-4 11th and birdieing the 520-yard, par-5 17th.
Five players, including McGovern and Lester, are tied for second on the 35-player individual leaderboard. Princeton's Ricardo Fantinelli leads the pack at 3-under.
Columbia (+12) is fourth out of seven on the team leaderboard, one shot in front of Yale (+13) and 10 shots clear of sixth-place Penn (+22). The Lions are just four shots behind a two-way tie for second between Harvard (+8) and Cornell (+8). Princeton (-1) holds a nine-shot lead on the field.
Junior Darren Pang (+5) is tied for 17th, junior George Rubelsky (+9) is tied for 30th and senior William Sung (+11) is 34th.
The Lions tee off in Saturday's second round starting at 9:50 a.m. Fans can find pairings and follow live scoring throughout the weekend on the College Golf Scoreboard, powered by Clippd.
