Estabrook Named to Buster Posey Midseason Watch List

Estabrook is one of 54 players up for national catcher of the year
NEW YORK — Columbia Baseball's standout catcher Owen Estabrook has been named to the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Midseason Watchlist, it was announced today. The prestigious honor recognizes the top Division I catchers in the nation for their excellence behind the plate, leadership, and offensive contributions.
Estabrook, a sophomore from Santa Barbara, California, has been a cornerstone for the Lions both offensively and defensively this season. Through 26 games, he boasts 18 RBI and five home runs, while anchoring Columbia's defense with a .995 fielding percentage and a team-leading nine runners caught stealing.
The Buster Posey Award, named after the seven-time MLB All-Star and former Florida State star, honors the nation's top collegiate catcher annually. Semifinalists will be announced on May 19, with finalists named shortly after. The winner will be announced during the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Estabrook is the second Columbia catcher to earn a spot on the Midseason Watchlist, joining Weston Eberly '23CC in 2023.
