Baseball Puts Eight On All-Ivy League Squads

Jack Kail highlighted the honorees with a unanimous first-team selection
PRINCETON, N.J. —Eight members of the Columbia baseball team earned All-Ivy League honors, the conference announced Thursday. Jack Kail was a unanimous first team choice for the second consecutive season, while Thomas Santana, Cole Fellows and Hunter Snyder were named to the second team. Owen Estabrook, Anthony Temesvary, Jimmy Chadwell and Ben Fishel each received honorable mention accolades.
Kail, a second baseman from McMurray, Pennsylvania, put together one of the top offensive seasons in the Ivy League. He finished the regular season batting .348 with 14 doubles, 37 RBI and a .477 slugging percentage in 36 games. He has struck out just eight times in 155 at-bats, making him the second toughest batter to strike out in the NCAA. Kail ranked fourth in the Ivy League in batting average, second in hits (54) and second in doubles. He was also outstanding in Ivy League play, hitting .360 with 10 doubles, a homer and 21 RBI in 21 contests.
Fellows makes his third consecutive appearance on an All-Ivy squad after hitting .312 with 14 doubles, eight home runs and 33 RBI while posting a .571 slugging percentage. His slugging percentage leads the Ivy League and he is second in the conference in homers.
Santana is also a three-time All-Ivy League selection following a strong senior campaign atop Columbia's rotation. The right-hander went 5-4 with 48 strikeouts in 56 innings over 11 starts and posted a 4.98 ERA overall. In Ivy League play, Santana went 5-2 with a 3.72 ERA and 43 strikeouts across 46 innings.
Snyder picked up second-team recognition after batting .298 with 27 runs scored and a .392 on-base percentage in 31 appearances. He hit .300 in conference play with a .407 on-base percentage.
Estabrook started 36 games, threw out a conference-leading 19 runners attempting to steal and posted a .997 fielding percentage with just one error in 288 chances. Offensively, he belted five homers, posted 22 RBI and ranked No. 4 in the conference with 28 walks.
Temesvary, who moved from catcher to third base this season, batted .299 with four home runs and 33 RBI. Chadwell hit .317 with 10 doubles and a .416 on-base percentage while starting all 39 games. Fishel rounded out Columbia's honorees after batting .259 with 37 hits and a .982 fielding percentage with five assists from centerfield.
Columbia is set to open the Ivy League Tournament on Friday, May 15, against top-seeded Yale in New Haven, Connecticut. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
