The former Ivy Defensive Player of the Year inks her first professional deal
NEW YORK – Former Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and Columbia women's soccer standout Courtney Ruedt '25CC inked her first professional deal with HB Køge women's soccer in Demark. Her contract is a one-year deal and will run through the summer of 2026.
"I'm beyond excited to sign with HB Køge." Ruedt said. "It is a privilege to join a club with such a strong vision and winning mentality. I can't wait to challenge myself and grow both as a player and a person."
The New Jersey product received a call from HB Køge earlier this month and was so excited by the opportunity. The coaching staff at Columbia was very supportive of her goal to play professionally, and she made it happen.
"Courtney is a talented and ambitious player who fits our club's values both on and off the pitch," said HB Køge Women Sporting Director Walid Khoury. "Her mentality, work ethic, and leadership qualities will make her a valuable asset to our squad and culture."
Ruedt started all 16 games for Columbia this past season as she helped the Lions force six shutouts. Columbia earned shutout victories over Penn and Dartmouth in Ivy League play. She scored one goal in Columbia's 4-1 over Cornell and totaled nine shots for the season. In 2023, she played a critical role in Columbia's defensive effort that collected 10 shutouts and was named Honorable Mention All-Ivy and to the Ivy League All-Tournament Team helping lead the Lions to their first win in the NCAA Tournament over Rutgers.
For her career, she appeared in 50 games and made 48 starts, tallying 4251 minutes.
