Volleyball
The Lions (1-5) are coming off their first win of the season after defeating Siena in four sets to close out the Clocktower Tournament hosted by the Saints last Saturday. First-year outside hitter Elenya Manulet and senior libero
Presley Liberty were named to the all-tournament team. After the first two weeks of the season, the Lions rank No. 55 in the nation in aces per set, averaging 1.89 aces per set. Maynulet and
Delaney Seaman rank No. 65 and No. 79, respectively, in that category. Maynulet continues to shine in the early going; she is currently second in the Ivy League in kills (91) and fifth in digs (79). She is one of two players in the conference to rank in the top-10 in both categories. Iona enters this week with a 4-6 record on the year and has lost four in a row. At home, they are 2-1. LIU is 0-6 on the year after losing three in a row at the Sacred Heart Invitational. FDU is 2-6 on the year, with both of their wins coming in neutral-site contests.
Men's Soccer
Fresh off their first victory, the Lions (1-1-2) take a three-game unbeaten streak across the river to Teaneck on Thursday night against FDU (3-2-2). Columbia took down Manhattan, 2-0, Monday night at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. Junior
Jack McDaid opened the scoring in the 11th minute and Columbia went on to fire off 23 shots, its most in a game since 2017. The Lions were rewarded again on their 23rd and final attempt, as first year
Stepan Kapranov slotted home his first collegiate goal in the 89th minute to cap off the victory. Columbia's three-game unbeaten streak is its longest since 2018, when the Lions won five in a row late in the season. Meanwhile, FDU is coming off back-to-back losses against the BIG EAST's St John's (1-0) and Seton Hall (3-0). The Knights have played their last five games on the road and are returning home for the first time since August 24, where they are an unbeaten 1-0-1 so far this season.
