Field Hockey Opens 2025 Season at UAlbany on Friday; Hosts LIU on Sunday

The Lions begin their second season under head coach Niki Miller
NEW YORK — Columbia field hockey begins the 2025 campaign on Friday at UAlbany with faceoff set for 2 p.m. at Alumni Turf. The Lions then return to New York City for their home opener on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. vs. LIU at the Columbia Field Hockey Complex.

The Schedule
The Lions will play nine games at home in 2025. Senior day is set for Sunday, Oct. 26 vs. Sacred Heart. The Ivy League Tournament is set for the weekend of Nov. 8-10 and will be hosted by the highest seed. The full schedule can be found by clicking here.
The Roster
Morgan Dwyer, Sophie Green, Izzy Kaczor, Brooke and Kiley Liddell, Ainsley Pearce, Maya Raphael, and Agustina Solari Etcheberry were announced as the program's 2025 newcomers.
"I am thrilled to welcome this year's incoming field hockey student-athletes to Columbia," Miller said. "Their dedication, skill, and passion for the game will elevate our program and reflect the competitive spirit and tradition of excellence that defines Columbia Field Hockey. The future of our team is bright and I can't wait for this group to join us."
The 2025 signing class join 14 returning letterwinners to the 2025 Columbia field hockey team. Returning players include sophomore and 2024 All-Ivy League Second Team selection Jacinta Solari Etcheberry. She also was named to the 2025 NFHCA Division I National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Watchlist, powered by Performance Sports Events (PSE). Solari Etcheberry won a bronze medal with Team Chile at the Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay in August.
Also back for 2025 are a group of Lions who played in all of last season's 16 matches: Lizzie Adams, Delfina Gonzalez Lobo, Mckenzie Bloom, Sam Petrucco, Nicole Campolattaro, and Emma Reilly.
The Captains
Sam Petrucco, Sophia Abate, and Emma Reilly will serve as the program's captains in 2025.
Series History - UAlbany
The Lions are 3-5 all-time against the Great Danes as the two teams meet for the first time since 2021. Columbia won the most recent meeting, 3-2, on the road.
Series History - LIU
The Lions are 4-0 against the Sharks and took last year's matchup in the 2024 home opener, 1-0, in double overtime.

Following the opening weekend of the season, Columbia hosts Fairfield next Friday at 3 p.m. before traveling to Quinnipiac next Sunday for a 12 p.m. matchup.
