Round 2 of league play begins in Ithaca
NEW YORK – The Columbia women's basketball team (14-6, 5-2 Ivy) begins the second round of league play at the site of the 2026 Ivy League Tournament. The Lions visit Cornell (8-12, 3-4 Ivy) on Saturday inside Newman Arena at 1 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN+.
OPENING TIPS
• Columbia went 1-1 last weekend on the road, taking down No. 19 Princeton, 73-67, on Friday night, but falling to Penn, 64-55, on Saturday night. Friday's win at Princeton was Columbia's second in program history over an AP Top 25 team. It also ended a 15-game Princeton winning streak, the third-longest active streak in Division I at the time. Saturday's loss to Penn snapped Columbia's 16-game winning streak in true road games, which was the longest active streak in Division I.
• Riley Weiss leads the Ivy League and ranks top 50 in the NCAA in scoring (18.5). She also leads the league in total points (370), field goals made (132), 3-pointers made (50), and 3-pointers made/game (2.50).
• Marija Avlijas is top 50 in the NCAA in assist/turnover ratio (2.00). Perri Page is top 50 in FG% (53.0%).
• Page is one of three players in the NCAA to average at least 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and shoot 50% or better from the field. The other two players are UConn's reigning All-American Sarah Strong and Abilene Christian's Meredith Mayes. Nationally, Page ranks top 50 in FG% (53.0%).
• Columbia leads the Ivy League scoring margin (+10.3), assists per game (16.7) and steals per game (12.4). The Lions rank No. 15 in the NCAA in steals and top 40 in assists.

WE OWN NEW YORK
• Columbia has dominated teams from New York state. Over its last 23 games against Empire State foes, Columbia owns a record of 21-2 (.913). Cornell's 67-60 win over the Lions earlier this season put an end to a 10-game winning streak against New York state opponents.
LAST TIME AGAINST CORNELL (Jan. 3)
• Despite dominating in rebounding, 36-26, points in the paint, 36-16, and fast-break points, 16-4, Columbia (9-5, 0-1 Ivy) succumbed to 6-of-24 three-point shooting against red-hot Cornell (5-8, 1-0 Ivy). The Big Red made 10-of-19 from deep to earn their first series victory in NYC since 2018.
