Lions to compete at University of Michigan Golf Course, May 11-13
NEW YORK — Columbia women's golf is headed to the postseason for the first time in 19 years. After winning the 2026 Ivy League Championship, the Lions were selected to the NCAA's Ann Arbor Regional, which takes place May 11-13, at the University of Michigan Golf Course. Columbia earned the regional's No. 10 seed, as announced during the NCAA Women's Golf Selection Special, which aired on the Golf Channel on Wednesday evening.
Head coach Amy Weeks and assistant coach Katie Rudolph, who were named the Ivy League Women's Golf Coaching Staff of the Year earlier on Wednesday, will lead the Lions to the NCAA Regional. The coaching pair guided Columbia to its first Ivy League Championship in nearly two decades this past weekend, which was the icing on top of a record 2025-26 season. Columbia won two of its nine events, finished runner-up twice and earned a record six top-three team finishes.
Unanimous First Team All-Ivy League selection Kristina Xu leads the team in scoring this season. The rookie from Claremont, California, boasted a team-leading 73.44 stroke average, which currently stands as the program's new single-season record. Xu won two events, including her collegiate debut in the Battle at the Creek (Sept. 15-16). She was co-medalist three weeks later at the Princeton Invitational (Oct. 4-5) with a 54-hole score of 2-under-par 211.
Columbia is also bolstered by a pair of Second Team All-Ivy League selections in sophomore Sarah Shao and first year Emily Zeng. Shao (74.96) and Zeng (75.20) were second and third on the team in stroke average. Shao was second on the team, behind Xu, with two top-five, four top-10 and six top-25 finishes. Zeng came on in the spring with an individual victory at the More Than Golf Invitational (Mar. 1-3), leading the Lions to their first tournament championship since 2016.
Five Lions earned top-10 finishes at the Ivy League Championship. Shao and sophomore Christine Chang placed in the top five and were named to the All-Championship Team. Chang is fourth on the team in stroke average (75.48), followed by first year Bridget Chantharath (75.81) and first year Camille Thai (76.38).
The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional will advance to play at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships, May 22-27, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Championship play will be hosted by Texas, with the final three days of the championships televised live by the GOLF Channel.
