Columbia field hockey opens Ivy League play Friday afternoon when the Lions travel to Ithaca to face Cornell. The Lions return home on Sundsay for a 1 p.m. match against Quinnipiac. A full preview will be available later this week on GoColumbiaLions.com

Volleyball In action

Volleyball
The Lions are off to their best start since 2000, going 5-1 after a 2-1 finish last week at the Laker Invitational hosted by Mercyhurst. The Lions opened the tournament with back-to-back exciting 3-1 wins before falling 3-0 to Kent State in the tournament finale. The Lions' depth has been a key contributor to the strong start, as nine athletes have at least 13 kills and are averaging over a kill per set. Sophomore Elena Maynulet leads the team, finishing last weekend with 30 kills and 32 digs. Right behind her was first-year outside hitter Alexia Cornea, who had 28 kills and averaged 2.55 kills per set. As a team, the Lions are averaging 13.60 kills per set while hitting .253. The 13.60 kills per set ranks 38th in the country and is a drastic improvement from 2025, when the Lions averaged 11.66 kills per set. Another factor in the Lions' hot start is that they are sixth in the nation in aces per set, averaging 2.45. This weekend, the Lions travel to Fort Wayne, Ind., for the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational. They open the tournament on Friday at 10 a.m. against the hosts. They wrap up Friday's twin billing by taking on Indiana State at 4:30 p.m. The tournament concludes on Saturday morning when the Lions take on Stonehill at 11 a.m.

WSOC Action Moncion

Women's Soccer
Columbia women's soccer travels to Newark, Delaware, for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Blue Hens. Kickoff is scheduled for noon. Delaware enters the week with a 4-1-3 record and is coming off a 3-1 road victory over Drexel on Sunday, bouncing back from its first loss of the season against Georgetown. The Blue Hens will visit Villanova on Thursday before hosting Columbia on Sunday. Maggie Groh leads Delaware offensively with four goals and nine points, while Adiat Olaogun-Dickson has a team-high two assists. The Blue Hens have scored 13 goals while allowing just seven through their first eight matches. Columbia enters the matchup looking to bounce back following a 2-0 loss at Monmouth on Sunday despite outshooting the Hawks, 19-8, including a 12-3 advantage in the second half.
