Aphrodite Daphnis joined Columbia University’s athletic training staff in January 2017. Her primary sport assignments include men’s soccerr, along with men’s heavyweight and lightweight rowing.
Daphnis came to Columbia after serving as the head athletic trainer at Hunter College ,N.Y., where she was responsible for the oversight of all 18 NCAA Division III varsity sports. In addition, she was a clinical preceptor for Long Island University’s athletic training education program.
In 2014, Daphnis graduated with a master’s degree in Advanced Athletic Training and Sports Sciences from LIU Brooklyn. As a graduate student, she served as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate athletic training, health and exercise science department. She received academic recognition by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Iota Tau Alpha and LIU Brooklyn School of Health Professions Alpha Eta honor societies.
Daphnis has over 13 years of experience as an athletic trainer. Her passion for athletic training resulted from a personal battle with injury as a NCAA Division I swimmer at UCLA.
She has worked with athletes at a variety of athletic levels, including members of Major League Soccer, Ironman triathlon, National Basketball Association, US Rugby, Rowing, Swimming and Water Polo national teams, Stanford University and University of California Athletics.
In addition to her expertise as an athletic trainer, Daphnis is a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, as well as a certified sports nutritionist through the International Society of Sports Nutrition.
